Over 250 local projects attract 150 mln euro Swiss non-reimbursable funds

Romania has committed to use all the CHF181 million (150 million euros) non-reimbursable funds granted by Switzerland for helping our country to develop, amount which will be allocated to more than 250 projects already approved, announces the Ministry of Finance.

The Swiss Parliament approved the financial contribution for Romania in 2009, as part of Switerland’s involvement into reducing economic and social disparities within the European Union. The related framework agreement between the Romanian Government and the Swiss Federal Council on the implementation of the Swiss-Romanian cooperation programme in this regard was signed in September 2010 in Berne.

2014 was the last year for engaging the assigned funds, while payments can be made by the end of 2019.

The selection of the projects which will benefit from these funds took into account Romania’s priorities in terms of development, such as the promotion of economic growth and the support provided to the business environment, the improvement of working conditions, the promotion of sustainable energy management, the improvement of public safety and security, education, research and supporting the civil society.
